Sneaky Baby

For a couple of days now, I'll turn around and find H on his belly playing with a toy not quite where I left him sitting. I wasn't sure if he'd just given up crying when he tips over several hundred times a day or if he was moving himself. Then I caught him! He leans down onto his hands and knees from a sitting position and reaches for the (nearly) out of reach item! Ooh, you sneaky little guy!

Another of H's idiosyncrasies is that he loves to sleep with things over his face. He often pulls a blanket, or piece of his own clothing over his face when putting himself to sleep. I went upstairs to check on him just a bit ago and he'd rolled over to pull his pajamas completely over his face!

God! This whole post makes me sound like a terrible mother! I promise both boys are healthy, well-loved, clean and safe. Geez!

In an effort to distract you from dialing CPS, Auntie A is on her way down to PDX as we speak! We just finished baking a flourless chocolate cake and are anxiously awaiting her arrival! I can hardly wait. It's all I can do to not call her every ten minutes asking if she's almost here. Come to think of it, I haven't talked to here since 10am, I better check in and see if she'll be here for dinner!

Super

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. H has a cold and has been very needy. My tenants seem to have been bitten by the needy bug, lately, too. It sucks that I've actually had to work the last couple weeks! March and April are my busiest months for paperwork anyway, but they have needed some extra social coaching these days. I can barely focus since Auntie A announced she's planning on moving to our fair city next month! I can hardly wait! She texts me with her daily countdown every morning and I can just barely keep from jumping up and down. T is excited, too and asks me pretty often when Aunt A is moving.

I made the boys some super hero capes. They have been running around pretending to be every superhero from American Eagle to Wolverine for the last several weeks. T could hardly contain himself as he pulled it out of the bag. He wears it everywhere and has hardly taken it off at all in the last week. J took a little longer to warm to his (he's just that way), but both boys thoroughly enjoy running around with their capes blowing about behind them.H celebrated his 4-month birthday on the 15th, mostly by eating, sleeping and spitting up on me, but those are good times if you're only120 days old, you know. I decided to give him a little solid food since he was stealing mine from my dinner plate and he sleeps like a champ at night. He only wakes for a little topping off around 3:30. I can handle that schedule! He's working on sitting up unassisted and adoring everything his big brother does. T generally likes H except when he gets his sticky little fingers tangled up in his hair. Tomorrow we go see the doctor for the annual check up, so I'll have weight and length statistics for you all. Until then, you'll have to check in to see the new photos on flickr. There's a totally ridiculous one of H. Go! Check it out!
In cooking news, I made a really terrible batch of roasted brussels sprouts (it was entirely my fault for adding apple cider vinegar rather than apple cider) and some delicious oatmeal scones with almonds and dried cherries. I guess you take the good with the bad.

T as wolverine

He loves all things super these days.

Going Mobile!

Hey, guess what! After sharing a car for about 6 years, A and I bought a second car this weekend! A is starting a new job next month with high falutin' clients and the '94 corolla with the car seats in the back isn't quite up to speed. We'd been talking about getting something since it's becoming increasingly difficult to share anyway. The "gold" car, as T calls it, is mostly for A's work, but I have a feeling it will become our main family car after a while. T says our next car will be a fire car that shoots fire out of the front and back. Hmmmm, we'll see.

H is cuter than ever. He always seems to be color coordinated, but it's just because we have lots of yellow and green. And he's growing like a weed! I've joked several times this week about our gigantic boys. He is a chubby monkey who unfortunately did not inherit his father's pretty legs. You should see the thighs on that baby!

On the T front, we are working on making it through the night without any accidents. He's doing pretty well, but we have to get him out of bed twice each night. He doesn't seem too tired during the day, but he's always needed a lot of sleep and does seem to be crying a lot more than usual. He doesn't want to wear pull ups anymore, but can't make it through the night and doesn't wake up even after he's peed the bed. What do you all think? Do any of you out there have tips for us?

Whoa, February!

I can't believe it's already February! Midge's birthday is just around the corner. We've been hanging out, not doing too much. I've really been trying to get back into the work groove since we'll need to live here for about 9 more months! Man, building a house if frustrating. It's all hurry, hurry, hurry, wait! I'll post more about the house details later today. I have to do the laundry and wash some dishes before A and T get home.

In family news, Aunt Amy is pregnant! We are soooooo happy for her and cannot wait to meet this new little nephew/niece in the fall. Also, Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jason have set a date for the wedding! I'm not telling though, in case you're not invited. Mostly, I'm not telling because I don't know the date! I do know that it's at the beach. Fun camping weekend, perhaps?!?

The boys are great. T got a haircut from Aunt Amy and he looks rather sharp. He helped me make a lemony semolina cake last week that was great. It had meyer lemons and semolina flour so it was a little unusual. He helped me shake the powdered sugar on top:

H is getting BIG! He's all smiles and wiggles lately, which is nice. He's kind of working into a daily routine with his naps and that really helps me get a little work done. He actually rolled over today, but I think it was an accident since he was DONE with tummy-time. Does anyone else's baby hate tummy time? T really hated it. I think he sat up just so he didn't have to do it anymore. H seems to tolerate it a little better, but a couple minutes is the max. It's hard to get a clear picture of him since he's always kicking around, but here's a picture from a couple days ago. I just like to share his cute little face!

Two Months

Sixty days. Eight weeks. H made it to his two month birthday this week! He is smiling lots and "talking". He is ticklish and has deep dimples. We are very lucky to have two such easy-going, happy boys! And now that his acne is gone, he's cuter than ever. At 13lbs, 4oz., H is a whole pound lighter than T was at the same age. He is longer, though, measuring 24.5 inches.
**Thanks to Auntie Therese for the cute union suit!
It's raining today, washing away all of the snow that we've had for the past several days. T and A (he, he, it always make me giggle!) have really enjoyed the snow. Building snowmen, throwing snowballs, slipping on the ice and making snow angels. I'll get to enjoy snow more next winter when H is a little bigger.

Happy Birthday to Aunt Denise !
